Full Moon In Scorpio, May 1st

Embodiment and Deep Feelings

The sun entered earth sign Taurus on April 19th, bringing some grounding energy to all the fire that’s been raging in Aries. With the sun ruled by Venus, goddess of art and beauty (Venus rules Taurus), we may feel called to turn our attention to the material matters of our lives, to our bodies, to sensation, to art and beauty. Allow yourself this opportunity to lounge, to feel, to be embodied, to love your body. Your body is your vessel.

Despite what advertisers and social media may want you to believe, your body is your friend. Your body makes this earth journey possible. I realize the body can be a touchy subject. We are so programmed to find fault with our bodies. Certain spiritual traditions even may advise transcending the body. Yet the body is wise and intelligent.

Even when the body suffers illness, it is information. When the body doesn’t function how we want or expect it to, we can become frustrated or angry. As aging begins to limit what was once possible in our bodies, we may feel despair. Yet our body is with us throughout our journey here on earth. It is how we are able to inhabit this amazing planet we call home, how we literally navigate the world, and connect with others.

I invite you to honor your body and honor the earth, which is also living, breathing, and the body we all ultimately depend on for life.

As I’ve mentioned previously, 2026 carries a strong signature of fire and air. It’s an energy of both destruction and creation. Alchemy, warfare, and wizardry. April 25th brings another major transit: Uranus moving into air sign Gemini for roughly the next seven years. This shift will bring further dramatic changes to technology and communication, as well as perhaps surprising changes in our own lives (where depends on your personal birth chart).

While these themes of fire and air continue, as we move into May, a shift occurs that brings in more earth (as noted by the sun in Taurus), and also perhaps an opportunity for deep catharsis with a water-ruled full moon in Scorpio.

Full Moon In Scorpio

Do keep in mind that Scorpio is not fluffy bunny energy. Scorpio goes deep. Scorpio has a highly tuned sensitivity to what is not said and not seen with the eyes. Scorpio reads between the lines and has a deep reservoir of feeling. Scorpio will be loyal and protective unless trust is broken. With a discerning poker face, Scorpio keeps their cards close to the vest and only shares (maybe) with those in their super-close inner circle.

With a full moon coming up on May 1, you may experience some potent feelings stirring and rising to the surface. A full moon brings fruition, clarity, and a spotlight shown on something that has perhaps remained hidden until now. Tread carefully with how your express your emotions, especially with those closest to you. Practice emotional self-care, whatever that looks like to you. Do you need time alone? Do you need to cry? Do you need to float in a salt bath? Take the time you need to feel and heal.

May 1st is also traditionally the day that Beltane is celebrated by some traditions. Beltane marks the midpoint between the spring equinox and the summer solstice and will “officially” occur on May 5th.

Mercury Enters Taurus

On Saturday May 2, Mercury also enters Taurus for a couple of weeks. During that time, your thought process may slow down and become more methodical.

Venus & Jupiter In The Night Sky

Finally, Venus and Jupiter are currently visible in the night sky. This is the best time of the year to see Venus. She will be especially close to the moon on May 18th. Do take a moment around sunset to witness this bright jewel in the sky. Jupiter is not quite as easy to see, but still perched up in the heavens early in the evening. (Side note: I recommend the Stellarium app if you are interested in a fantastic planetary guide you can keep on your phone!).
